Not so long ago when I was trying to lose the weight I had gained from having my children (and some weight I gained even before having children), I was forced to go to face to face meetings with a so called "weight loss coach" at one of those big box type weight loss centers.
So here I was hauling 2 or 3 of my children with me to go get weighed, to be told I wasn't following the program correctly (I even had one so called "weight loss coach" berate me for not following the program by telling me I signed a contract that I agreed that I would weigh and measure absolutely everything I ate. This after I told her I refused to measure lettuce for my salad. Believe me, it wasn't lettuce that made me fat). After being stressed out by having to haul my kids with me for these embarrassing "coaching session" where I was made to feel like a loser about myself and about my lack of commitment to stick to their program, I decided enough is enough. I would rather be fat then have to put up with this inconvenience and being made to feel bad about not following what ever program.
Hence I started my own journey. I have become a Certified Coach, but not by any big box weight loss company. The Coaching I learned to do has to do with supporting the client with what they want to accomplish and working with the client to figure out the way that is best for that client. No weight loss system that is the same for everyone. No making anyone feel bad about not being able to stick with the program. I now understand that there is a reason why people can't stick to their weight loss program, and it has absolutely nothing to do with will power. For me making a person feel bad about not sticking to a diet, to try and get them to comply with the 'system' is absolutely a no no!
I have been able to drop 50 pounds - not following any of the "diet" programs out there. It took me a while to learn, but I finally figured out that weight loss starts with the mind and habits first, then you can move onto food later. Just about all diet programs out there start with what you are supposed to eat instead - making you feel deprived of the foods you love. The fact is they just don't work. Statistics say that 98% of all people who lose weight on diets, gain back all the weight and put on even more weight within 5 years!! That is a 98% failure rate!!
So why to we keep trying diets? Because we don't know of any other way.
I am offering you another way.
* Attuned Wholistic Services' Weight Loss Programs do not put you on a "diet" you are absolutely still allowed to eat all the foods you love.
* Attuned Wholistic Services' Weight Loss Programs are all Online, because I understand you are busy. You don't have time to cram in another appointment in your day or week.
* Attuned Wholistic Services' Weight Loss Programs all direct you on the path towards Permanent Weight Loss. No 98% failure rate here.
* Attuned Wholistic Services' Weight Loss Programs address the reason you gained weight in the first place. In other words we treat the cause of weight loss problems, not the symptom.
* Attuned Wholistic Services has a variety of Programs for you to choose from, so you can pick the Program for you that you are most comfortable at this time.
So quit dieting (remember 98% failure rate) and take an Online Weight Loss program that is convenient and works.

Ice Cream causes Spider Nightmares
A few years ago when I was working as an Administrative Assistant my co-worker was telling me that she thought her teenage son was nuts. She explained to me, that her son was telling her that he believes that eating ice cream at bed time was causing him to have nightmare about spiders.
She of course thought this was totally ridiculous.
I on the other hand thought differently. Years before when I was in my teens, I made the same connection. I used to have terrible nightmares about spiders in my bed. I finally came to realize that when I ate ice cream at bedtime (which at that time was a common occurrence for me), those were the nights that I had spider nightmares.
So I explained to my co-worker that I believe her son was right and explained my experience with ice creams and spider nightmares.
I was thinking about how food can affect the brain so much, that it can cause these odd reactions.
I would like to hear from you readers about your experience with any time of food that causes odd reactions (like my example of ice cream and spider nightmares)
Lets start a discussion!

Health and Wellness Product Reviews
Does this happen to you, or is it just me? I seem to get a lot of spam emails advertising some great new product. Now I'm not one to just jump on the band wagon and purchase any old thing that is pitched to me, because I get at least 5 or more per week of these type of emails. And often it is the same program pitched by several different people.
So when I do come across a product that I find interesting, I like to do my research and see about reviews... Now this is where it begins to get silly. Why is it that every review I find about a product (doesn't seem to matter what the product is - and I'm sure they can't all be that great) that there are several reviews and absolutely every single person reviewing it says it's great, and they have the program available for purchase on their site, right by their review. Seems kind of fishy to me.
Is there no one anymore who actually posts an honest review of a product, that they personally have actually tried, and that they are not trying to make a buck off it?
Please Source (God) lead me to people who give honest reviews - just for the sake of giving and honest review!!!!!

Organic Food Delivery
I just had to put a post about a Company that I came across in Edmonton, that I think is pretty fantastic!
Most of us know now a days about all the chemicals that are sprayed on foods, so that growers can mass produce. The trend lately is to start eating organic and reduce your chemical intake that you are getting from regular commercial produce.
Now, I am a little bit of a lazy person, we do have Organic Food Markets around, but none are close to my home, and I just don't seem to find the time to make the big trip to one of the Organic Markets to buy my produce. Even though I know the commercial stuff is poison to me... laziness wins over.
To get to the point, there is a Company that is called The Organic Box, their website is: www.theorganicbox.ca and they deliver Organic fruit and vegetables to your door!!!
Now if isn't the lazy mans solution to eating organic, then I don't know what is.
So I encourage you to check it out! Tell them you were referred by Adriana Ellis with Attuned Wholistic Services!!

Chemical Apples that you eat
I was recently at a one day course learning about Raw Foods. And I was shocked to learn how many chemicals are sprays with chemicals. In fact, did you know that commercial Apples are one of the most toxic fruits with how many sprays and chemicals are placed on those fruit. Apples are definitely one item that you want to buy organic.
Here is a website that can help you learn more about clean food. It is the Environmental Working Group, and it is VERY interesting all the information about what you are putting in your body via food.
Here is the link for that website: http://www.ewg.org/

5 brain techniques to improve your memory
A
strong memory depends on the health and vitality of your brain. The human brain
has neuroplasticity, which basically means it has the ability to adapt and
change, even into old age. There are lots of things you can do to improve your
memory and mental performance, as follow:
Brain Tip 1: Have sufficient exercise and sleep
Having sufficient physical exercise can enhance your ability to proves and recall information as it increases the amount of oxygen transported to the brain and reduces the risk of disorders that can lead to memory loss (e.g diabetes and cardiovascular diseases).
If you are sleep deprived, creativity, problem-solving abilities, and critical thinking skills are compromised. Besides, sleep is critical to learning and memory as it is necessary for memory consolidation, which mostly occurs during the deep sleep phase.
Brain Tip 2: Make time for socializing and having fun
Relationships stimulate our brains and interacting with others may be the best kind of brain exercise. In addition to improving brain health, emotional health is also improved. It is found that people with most active social lives had the slowest rate of memory decline. So join a club/ activity or make an effort to see friends more often. Even socializing with pets can help.
Brain Tip 3: Meditate regularly
Meditation is known to improve many different types of conditions, including depression, anxiety, chronic pain, diabetes, and high blood pressure. Meditation also can improve focus, concentration, creativity, and learning and reasoning skills. Regular meditators have more activity in the left prefrontal cortex, which is associated with feelings of joy and equanimity. It also encourages more connections between brain cells, which ultimately increases mental clarity and memory ability.
Brain Tip 4: Eat brain-boosting food
Diet based on fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and unsaturated fats will provide lots of health benefits, in addition to improving memory. Eat foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids (i.e salmon, tuna, sardine, walnuts, soybean etc) as it boost brainpower and lower the risk of developing Alzheimer's disease. Besides, eat more fruits and leafy vegetables (spinach, broccoli etc) as they are packed with antioxidants; they protect brain cells from damage. Drink wine, especially red wine in moderation as it is rich is resveratrol, which boosts blood flow into the brain and improves memory and cognition. Excess of alcohol, however may damage brain cells. One thing to note is that you must avoid diets high in saturated fats (i.e red meat, whole milk, butter, cheese etc.) as it impairs concentration and memory. For mental energy, choose complex carbohydrates.
Brain Tip 5: Exercise your brain regularly
Mental brain puzzles performed on a daily basis help strengthen your brain by activating new neural pathways. The activity you choose should be new, challenging and fun. Also, try to practice around the same time every day as consistent cycles aid in the development of new neural pathways. Exercises to try out include as memorizing a poem or a shopping list, playing chess, enjoying a crossword puzzle. Besides that, try using you non-dominant hand to carry out daily activities such as brushing your teeth, combing your hair, eat etc. This practice stimulates communication between the two hemispheres of the brain, helping to improve mental capacity as well as physical balance.

Alkaline Diet
The
body's alkalinity is vitally important. It is an undisputed fact that ill
health and diseases occur when the body is acidic. Diseases and ill
health are warded off when the body is in an alkaline state. Therefore,
our choice of foods and food combinations should be alkaline and not
acid-forming. Let us look at some of the benefits of an alkaline based
diet:
Improves sleep, improves libido, improves vision, staves off cancer, improves the skin's elasticity, improves the health of hair and nails, reverses the signs and symptoms of aging, helps the body to properly regulate all its functions, maintains a healthy body weight by shedding excess fat, removes bad cholesterol (LDL) from the bloodstream while enhancing HDL levels, maintains healthy brain cells which in turn improves memory and overall brain function, helps the body reset itself to reverse and even eliminate issues such as arthritis, diabetes and so much more, melts away and even prevents the formation of kidney stones, gall stones, and bladder stones.
There is no question that "you are what you eat". Processed foods, refined and artificial sugars, caffeine, alcohol, et cetera, all contribute to ill health and increase aging. An alkaline based diet is founded on fresh fruits, nuts, seeds and vegetables; all of which vary in their levels of alkalinity. It is important to note that almonds, chestnuts, and coconuts are the only alkaline nuts. Staying alkaline and healthy is a choice that we all can and should make.
On a personal note: I have started a couple of e-Newsletters, that are more subject specific:
